Political Realignments A political realignment happens when a specific gathering or class of voters changes or as it were realigns with an ideological group or up-and-comer who they vote in favor of in a specific political decision â⬠known as a basic political decision or this realignment might be spread out over various races. Then again, ââ¬Å"dealignmentâ⬠happens when a voter gets disappointed with their present ideological group and either decides not to cast a ballot or turns into a free. These political realignments occur in decisions including the U.S. Administration and the U.S. Congress and are implied by power changes of the Republican and Democratic gatherings that comprise ideological changes the two issues and gathering leaders.à Other significant variables are administrative changes which influence crusade financing rules and voter qualification. Integral to realignment is that there is a change in voterââ¬â¢s conduct. 2016 Election Results In the 2016 political race, in spite of the fact that Trump is succeeding at the hour of this composing the Electoral College by an edge of 290 to 228 votes; Clinton is winning the general mainstream vote by in excess of 600,000 votes. Furthermore, in this political decision, American voters gave the Republican Party a perfect force clear â⬠the White House, the Senate and the House of Representatives. One key to the Trump triumph was that he won theâ popular vote in three of the alleged ââ¬Å"Blue Wallâ⬠States: Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan.à Blue Wall States are the individuals who have firmly upheld the Democratic Party over past ten or so presidential decisions. As for the discretionary votes:à Pennsylvania has 20, Wisconsin has 10, and Michigan has 16.à Although these states were fundamental in driving Trump to triumph, note that his edge of triumph from these three states totaled approximated 112,000 votes. On the off chance that Clinton had won these three States, she would be the President-elect rather than Trump.â In the ten Presidential races preceding 2016, Wisconsin had just casted a ballot Republican on two events â⬠1980 and 1984; Michigan voters had casted a ballot Democrat in six straight Presidential races before 2016; and too, in the ten Presidential decisions preceding 2016, Pennsylvania had just casted a ballot Republican on three events â⬠1980, 1984 and 1988. V. O. Key, Jr. also, Realigning Elections American political scientistà V.O. Key, Jr. is most notable for his commitments to behavioralâ political science, with his significant effect being on political decision studies.à In his 1955 article A Theory of Critical Elections, Key clarified how the Republican Party got prevailing somewhere in the range of 1860 and 1932; and afterward how this strength moved to the Democratic Partyâ after 1932 by utilizing experimental proof to distinguish various political race which Key named as ââ¬Å"critical,â⬠or ââ¬Å"realigningâ⬠which brought about American voters changing their ideological group affiliations. While Key explicitly begins with 1860 which was the year that Abraham Lincoln was chosen, different researchers and political specialists have distinguished and additionally perceived that there have been deliberate examples or cycles which have normally occurred in the U.S. national elections.à à While these researchers are not in understanding concerning the term of these examples: periods that go from each 30 to 36 years instead of 50 to 60 years; it gives the idea that the examples have some relationship with generational change. Appointment of 1800 The most punctual political race which researchers have recognized as realigning was in 1800 when Thomas Jefferson crushed the officeholder John Adams. This political decision moved force from George Washington and Alexander Hamiltonââ¬â¢s Federalist Party to the Democratic-Republican Party which was driven by Jefferson. Albeit some contend this was the introduction of the Democratic Party, in all actuality, the gathering was set up in 1828 with the appointment of Andrew Jackson. Jackson crushed the occupant, John Quincy Adams and brought about the Southern States taking force from the first New England settlements. Appointment of 1860 As expressed above, Key clarified how the Republican Party got predominant beginning in 1860 with the appointment of Lincoln. In spite of the fact that Lincoln was an individual from the Whig Party during his initial political profession, as President he drove the U.S. to annul subjection as an individual from the Republic Party. Likewise, Lincoln and the Republic Party welcomed patriotism to the United States just before what might turn into the American Civil War. Appointment of 1896 The overbuilding of railways caused a few of them, including the Reading Railroad, to go into receivership which made several banks come up short; bringing about what was the first U.S. financial downturn and is known as the Panic of 1893. This downturn caused soup lines and open fury towards the current organization and made the Populist Party the most loved to take power in the 1896 Presidential political race. In the 1896 Presidential political race, William McKinley vanquished William Jennings Bryan and keeping in mind that this political race was not a genuine realignment or did it by any chance meet the meaning of a basic political race; it set the phase for how up-and-comers would battle for office in ensuing years. Bryan had been selected by both the Populist and Democratic gatherings. He was restricted by the Republican McKinley who was supported by a well off person who utilized that riches to lead a crusade that was proposed to make the people frightful of what might occur if Bryan won. Then again, Bryan utilized the railroad to make a whistle-stopâ tour offering twenty to thirty addresses daily.à These battle techniques have advanced into the present day. Appointment of 1932 The 1932 political decision is generally considered as the most notable realignment political decision in U.S. history. The nation was in the Great Depression because of the 1929 Wall Street Crash. Vote based competitor Franklin Delano Roosevelt and his New Deal approaches overwhelmingly vanquished officeholder Herbert Hoover by an edge of 472 to 59 Electoral Vote. This basic political decision was the underpinnings of an enormous redesign of American politics.à In expansion, it changed the essence of the Democratic Party.â Appointment of 1980 The following basic political decision happened in 1980 when Republican challenger Ronald Reagan vanquished the Democratic officeholder Jimmy Carter by the enormous edge of 489 to 49 Electoral Votes. At that point, roughly 60 Americanââ¬â¢s had been held prisoner since November 4, 1979, after the U.S. International safe haven in Tehran had been invaded by Iranian understudies. The Reagan political race likewise denoted a realignment of the Republican Party to being more moderate than any other time in recent memory and furthermore realized Reaganomics which was intended to fix extreme financial issues that stood up to the country.à In 1980, the Republicans additionally assumed responsibility for the Senate, which denoted the first run through since 1954 that they had control of either place of Congress. (It would not be until 1994 preceding the Republican Party would have control of both the Senate and the House at the same time.) Appointment of 2016 â⬠Realigning Election? The genuine inquiry with deference regarding whether the 2016 political decision triumph by Trump is a ââ¬Å"political realignmentâ⬠as well as a ââ¬Å"critical electionâ⬠isn't anything but difficult to answer seven days after the election.à The United States isn't encountering inside budgetary misery or confronting negative financial markers, for example, high joblessness, swelling, or expanding loan fees. The nation isn't at war, in spite of the fact that there are dangers of outside fear mongering and social agitation because of racial issues.à However, it doesn't create the impression that these were significant issues or worries during this political race process.â Rather, one could contend that neither Clinton or Trump were seen by voters as being ââ¬Å"Presidentialâ⬠because of their own moral and good issues.à In expansion, since absence of trustworthiness was a significant obstacle which Clinton endeavored to defeat all through the crusade, it is very conceivable that out of dread of what Clinton would do whenever chose, voters decided to give the Republicans control of the two places of Congress. Michel Foucault has massively formed force present in establishments. As indicated by Foucault, power is frequently utilized as a methods for intimidation. The fundamental way of thinking that he outlines is that force is all over and it picks up greatness through systems of talk (Foucault 778). This paper is an activity to comprehend the nearness of intensity inside a college campus.Advertising We will compose a custom exposition test on Michel Foucaultââ¬â¢s Subject of Power explicitly for you for just $16.05 $11/page Learn More The initial segment of the paper will talk about the way of thinking of intensity as introduced by Foucault. Force is characterized by Foucault as a connection among gatherings and powers inside a social foundation: The term ââ¬Å"powerâ⬠assigns connections among accomplices (and by that I am not thinking about a lose-lose situation however basically, and for the second remaining in the most broad terms, of a troupe of activities which instigate others and follow from each other) (Foucault 786). The force as Foucault characterizes isn't forced from inside the structure of the foundation. Rather, it emerges from relations in the general public. Foucault expresses that there are various methods of intensity â⬠disciplinary methods of intensity and social force (Foucault 53). Force isn't identified with any organization nor does it emerge out of power. Force doesn't exist independently. It is available with different forces systematized by different bodies. As indicated by Foucault, power is goes through the foundations and doesn't have a place with people. Besides, Foucault likewise shows that the idea of present day discipline has created through this new comprehension of intensity inside foundations. The panopticon framework is how force is organized inside a cutting edge setting (Foucault, Power/Knowedlge 155). Foucault expresses that there is no ââ¬Å"exercise of intensity wit hout a specific economy of talks of truthâ⬠(Foucault 93). The idea of intensity as portrayed by Foucault has certain aspects: Power is found comparable to the social body and these two things coincide, Power relations are interlinked with different types of relations, These relations don't direct the idea of ââ¬Å"prohibitions and punishmentsâ⬠, These talks are brought together into a unitary type of control. (Foucault 142) Power can be utilized for foundation of intensity, information, and competency (Foucault 781). Further, these battles can be utilized against the gathering of ââ¬Å"domination and explorationâ⬠(Foucault 782). The inquiry that emerges is that how the force is worked out. Foucault presents the response to this question:Advertising Looking for paper on reasoning? We should check whether we can support you! I t is not necessarily the case that there is an issue of three separate spaces. Nor that there is, from one viewpoint, the field of things, of consummated procedure, work, and the change of the genuine; on the other that of signs, correspondence, correspondence, and the creation of significance; lastly, that of the mastery of the methods for requirement, of imbalance, and the activity of men upon other men (Foucault 786-787). The nearness of intensity inside establishments requires dutifulness through acknowledgment of intensity relations. The order of apprenticeship is important for proper correspondence of intensity, as per Foucault. The following segment of the paper will examine how force is organized inside colleges. This area will depict the issues of intensity that is obvious inside a college grounds. Colleges are organized in three general gatherings. The main gathering of individuals is the instructors or the educators. They are the ones who are in control of information and in this manner, because of their wealth of information, they hold a particular control over others in the organization. This gathering likewise has a regulated predominance in the psyche of different gatherings in the college. For example, understudies understand the force that the educators have through famous talk of teacherââ¬â¢s prevalence. The subsequent gathering is that of the understudies. This the biggest gathering inside the instructive foundation. They are the ones who are available in the college to pick up information and along these lines, they hold a place of accommodation. Further, the third gathering incorporates others related with the college. These may incorporate the bookkeeping staff, individuals at the library, etc. These three are the general gatherings; in any case, there are numerous different subgroups inside these more extensive gatherings. Who has power in the colleges? In any instructive organization, taking into account that they are the foundation s of information, power is available among the individuals who have more information. As per Foucault, singular teachers don't have the power.Advertising We will compose a custom exposition test on Michel Foucaultââ¬â¢s Subject of Power explicitly for you for just $16.05 $11/page Learn More The force they have doesn't originate from their individual information or positions. It is the foundation of the educators. As it were, the gathering of individuals who control the scattering of information in an instructive establishment is the gathering that presumably holds the most extreme force inside a college. Foucault states ââ¬Å"power exists just when it put to actionâ⬠(789). If there should be an occurrence of the gathering of understudies, the force begins from the gatherings that are shaped. For example, a studentââ¬â¢s body, which has been chosen to speak to the directors, holds the force. The individuals from this body in a split second hold the more noteworthy force than different individuals from the studentsââ¬â¢ body. Further, these individuals hold more prominent force since it is talked by the institutional hardware that they are the ones who speak to the others to the organization, and in this way have the more noteworthy force. Thusly, even the others inside the studentsââ¬â¢ body feel that these understudies are significant. The intensity of the understudies in the college is practically like that of ecclesiastical force, which they hold over different understudies. The others consider the studentsââ¬â¢ body nearly as a gathering of ministers who have noteworthy capacity to move the desires of the understudies to the managers. In this way, the conviction that they are the main individuals who can move the plans to the others is a potential manner by which the studentsââ¬â¢ body infers power. The other conceivable wellspring of intensity inside the instructive foundation is discernible in the understudy instructor communicati on. Understudies are the subjects and the objects of accommodation, while the educators are the wellspring of intensity. The teachersââ¬â¢ body, because of more noteworthy information accessible to them, holds a higher position and is the person who looks out for the understudies through instruments, for example, activities, introductions, and assessments. The force that the instructors hold is again the one that is talked to them, as opposed to the ones which emerge out of position. Henceforth, Foucault dismisses the idea of positional force, and cultivates the conviction that force is one that is made through the encounter of the two bodies, for this situation , the understudies and the teachersââ¬â¢ body. Foucault has clarified the presence of intensity according to common specialists and the lawbreakers as:Advertising Searching for paper on theory? How about we check whether we can support you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Find out More Essentially, power is less an encounter between two foes or the connecting of one to the next than an issue of government. â⬠¦ ââ¬Å"Governmentâ⬠didn't allude just to political structures or to the administration of states; â⬠¦ to oversee, in this sense, is to structure the conceivable field of activity of others. (Foucault 786) Hence, the force one achieves inside the administration is likewise the one that the others ought to withstand. Had there been no talk of the presence and the apparent predominance of the administration, force would not have become such a significant device (Fanon 176). The force that the administering bodies accepted, or some other bodies inside the colleges, was not gotten from the structure of the establishment, however from the method of activities of the individuals. The primary issue is that the gatherings in the college give that force develops as a round of opportunity. The procedure where one gathering or the other inside the college l ooks for opportunity is a technique wherein power is made inside the association. As one attempts to achieve opportunity, different attempts to tie it utilizing the guidelines and guidelines of the organization. Thusly, the administering assemblages of the colleges again hold control over the understudies just as the teachersââ¬â¢ body. This is a winding chain of intensity and its impact reaches out to all the bodies inside the establishment. The nearness of the force inside the association, be it an instructive instinct or some other, power emerges from the convictions and impression of individuals and through the various leveled apparatus. Force is a framework that is implemented through times of talk. In this way, the contextual analysis of a college shows that power, as Foucault affirmed, emerges not from the structure of the association yet through different techniques for cooperation and activities. The Report Free Malaysia Todayââ¬â¢s news report last March 4, 2013 by one of its staff James Pereira has outlined that Malaysian organizations are dedicated to specify clients with an incredible assistance. In any case, Pereira records that these workers are remarkably in minority bunches. He demands that for a firm to be perceived globally, it must be taught with workers who are spooky with consumer loyalty. There is in reality a correct way to deal with having an uncommon different sort of workers, and for this display to be attainable, a logical aspect must be close by. All things considered, a business to be named as an overwhelming endeavor and become a fruitful world-class firm, it must be imbued with a top-flight notoriety, which must be accomplished through representatives. The top-flight notoriety runs the productive parts of a firm and the equation to accomplish this is: ââ¬Å"Right Employee x Right Train ing x Right Performance x Right Reward = Right Profitsâ⬠(Pereira, 2013). Prominently, having been portrayed as a recipe of aggregating right benefits, the last is esteemed as a paragon that turning out to be fruitful is mixed with a logical angle. 3. Execution Management Right benefits are evaluated by four angles, which incorporate right execution (Pereira, 2013); in this way, execution ought to be overseen well driving it to turn out to be correct. Execution the board can be seen in an expansive or restricted setting. In the more extensive setting, the organization will be seen in the direct of surveying the authoritative execution - the estimation and assessment of the organization of a firm (Pantouvakis, 2011, p.13) - while in the restricted setting, the evaluation will be held in the exhibition of each worker. The initial step to dealing with the presentation is through job profiling- - where workers can be coming from outer staffing and inward entries, and in this way co operative energy should likewise be ingrained (Story, 2007, pp.274-276). Incorporating these representatives to cooperate and setting up the correct culture of the association can help continue a successful collaboration. The idea of reconciliation is exceptionally huge on the grounds that just in mix will rise the prevailing part of cooperative energy (Moulesong, 2013). Workers will see equality of significant worth and solidarity of course. They will by one way or another comprehend that each element in the association has their specific job, and it coordinates a tremendous division or part of the measures that can help with accomplishing the authoritative objectives viably. In the light of cooperative energy, representatives can turn out to be progressively powerful as they incorporate them as they work exclusively (Tanriverdi, 2006, p. 59). The following remarkable thing the firm should do is to choose the measures, which ought to be seen as a concise arrangement of data that ga uges the future principles or focuses of the firm. Besides, setting the guidelines doesn't simply portray expecting of what must be done, yet actualizing what must be finished. Expansion is a predominant angle here since accomplishing one objective can't be achieved with a one-sized-fits-all part of business. In any case expressed, representative broadening can likewise help viability and proficiency of tasks since one of the upper hands of a firm is to have an expanded staff (Ravichandran, et al., 2009, p.233). Lear and Cordeliaââ¬â¢s relationship is strong and it is very different than the relationship between Lear, and Cordeliaââ¬â¢s sisters, Goneril and Reagan. Lear and Cordelia have different views of what is important in the world, these different views is what ultimately causes their bond to break. The separation of Lear and Cordelia ultimately causes a rift in the play and conflict to occur. The theme of the relationship between a father and his child is also shown through the relationship of Gloucester and Edgar, his ââ¬Å"legitimateâ⬠son. The power struggle between characters in King Lear causes the main conflict in the story as the bond between family is torn apart. Edgar and Gloucesterââ¬â¢s relationship parallels Lear and Cordeliaââ¬â¢s relationship. In both relationships, both fathers feel betrayed although they havenââ¬â¢t bee n betrayed as they have only received praise from their seemingly loyal children. Although perceived as loyal Regan, Goneril and Edmund all have different moral sensibilities in which they use to take advantage of Lear. Another similarity, is the fact that both fathers betray their loyal children, yet both Cordelia and Edgar stay devoted and loyal to their parents. Cordelia believes that love is shown through her loyalty and deeds to her father rather than pandering like her sisters. The story takes place beginning at the end of the 1960s and concluding in the early 1980s and takes us from the authors early childhood to college. Dalton Conley was white, with a Jewish mother and an Irish/English father. Both of Daltons patents were artists. His mother, Ellen, grew up in northern Pennsylvania, the daughter of a dentist, and was a graduate of Penn State University. She was active in the civil rights movement in the early sixties and later spent time in Haiti as a volunteer. She is probably best described as somewhat of a Flower child. Daltons father, Steve, grew up in Connecticut with moderately wealthy parents. He attended college at a small liberal arts school in Wisconsin but never graduated. During his junior year, his father lost his job and business and could no longer afford the tuition. Daltons parents wer e the starving artist type and lived in a tenement in Manhattan. The apartment was in a crime-ridden area and they were robbed several times. The last time they were robbed Daltons mother was able to identify the thief and have him arrested. The thief threatened to kill the entire family upon his release so they decided to move. They applied for and were accepted into a new housing project, The Masaryk Towers, which was largely Black and Hispanic. Living in a predominately minority community and Dalton has no concept of race early on. When told his mother is pregnant he is almost three and completely unaware that both his parents being white will result in a white child. Dalton experiences being a minority among minorities and sees first hand how the cultural differences affect society. Living in a minority area, he attends predominantly a black school where he learns of some differences between the cultures. In school finds, he is the only student who cannot be disciplined with cor poral punishment because black teachers are fearful of striking a white child and his parents are steadfastly against it. Daltons parents use some connections and the address of a friend to have him transferred to a mostly white school after a child molester is caught castrating boys in the bathroom of his school. There he learns what it is like to be white and finds the popular kids are those with the richest parents. Dalton finds himself in a unique spot in his new school because even though he is white, he is poor. On days, he sleeps at a friends house he is unable to buy snacks after school the way his white friends do. He decides he needs money to fit in and takes a job in a local store but is fired because of labor laws relating to minors. Dalton had considered himself a member of both the white school he attended and the minority neighborhood in which he lived. That image was challenged when he realized he was embarrassed to bring his white friend to his house and when his baseball glove was stolen at knifepoint and his neighborhood friends did little to help. This was the point he realized he was an outsider in both worlds. Dalton spent his summers in middle class Pennsylvania camping near his grandparents house. Both he and his sister hated this but knew they were getting to do things their neighborhood peers could only dream about. Dalton and his sister had a difficult time making friends during the summer because they were city kids and the PA kids were rural. When Dalton is about twelve, he becomes friends with a boy names Jerome who lives in his neighborhood. Jerome is the only other boy in his neighborhood who attends his school predominantly white school. He is the type of kid who is liked by all, accepted by both the white and black population. About a year, after they become friends Jerome is shot by a stray bullet and becomes paralyzed. Dalton has trouble dealing with this and ultimately becomes obsessive compulsive having to do everything in twos for fear of bad luck. Government Internet Intervention EssayOne of the stories uses the term nigger to define the villain and this is upsetting to her. The use of this word, by people who for the most part have never interacted with minorities shows how minorities can be guilty until proven innocent. They never even considered the people this was referring to, it was just a foregone conclusion that Blacks were niggers and bad people. These kids were apparently taught racial hatred at an early age. It seems the result of being a minority and forced to grow up in the ghetto started you on a treadmill where escape was almost impossible. But a white kid in the same environment was given more and different opportunities and therefore had a much better chance to improve his/her life situation. Critical Evaluation I found Honky to be an interesting book. It allowed me to gain some perspective on the neighborhood where I grew up and better understand many of the privileges associated with growing up white. I was raised in Roxborough, a predominantly white area in North West Philadelphia. Here, the streets were relatively clean, you could walk to the store without fear, and the schools were among the best in the city. I had taken for granted that this is how things were everywhere and was led to believe that if a neighborhood was bad then the residents were to blame. I wont say I was shocked by what I read because deep down I think everyone knows that growing up in a poor neighborhood affords you fewer of lifes opportunities. I will say that after reading this book you get a much better understanding of how and why some neighborhoods are as they are and why minorities have such a difficult time making a better life for themselves. This book makes it clear that not all neighborhoods are created equal and the minorities who are unfortunate enough to have to live in the depressed areas are caught in a trap. The book makes a strong argument for better means of integration. It tells me that people are a product of their environment and if you live in an area where crime is prevalent then you stand a good chance of becoming a criminal or possibly worse, being labeled a criminal because of your skin color. It also shows me that institutional discrimination is a very real situation and not to be taken lightly. The book makes a strong argument for integration and assimilating the black minority into the mainstream. It is pointed out several times that the people in the neighborhood are doing their best to educate their children but the schools are lacking. Its clear that most of the people who reside in the projects are no different from those in the dominant group. They want what is best for their children and what is best for them but are denied some of the basic services we take for granted that are necessary to make this happen. It also points out that stereotyping makes integration a difficult task. When white kids refer to blacks as niggers, it shows a difficult road ahead. The book makes a compelling argument for integration. We are shown a group of people who, through no fault of their own, are stuck in a cycle of poverty. Daltons escape from this poverty shows the privileges bestowed on whites that made his escape possible. Others in his neighborhood could not have made the transition nearly as easily simply because they were black. Through integration, we could reduce or eliminate the black ghetto. If, for example, schools were funded equally many could escape. Dalton uses the address of a family friend to gain entrance into the better school but this possibility doesnt exist for the black kids because they have no friends in the white neighborhood. The book does however lack some details. We are not introduced to the families of the kids in the projects and have to draw our own conclusions. For example, Daltons mother is diligent in making sure he follows the right path by forcing him to sign contracts stating he wont do this or that. We are not told about the parents of the kids on the bench drinking beer or why parents allowed teachers to use corporal punishment on their children. The picture is sort of one dimensional in that we only are shown the minority group from Daltons perspective. I understand that this is an autobiography but some insight into the other minority families in the story may have helped clarify some points. After reading this book (and taking this class), I find many of the statements and observations of friends and family to be extremely offensive and shortsighted. I would recommend some people I know read this book but they would also need to take this class. I have always been labeled the Only Democrat in the Republican stronghold and my interpretation of this book brings proves that to me. If I were to give this book to some of the people I know, they would discount many of the points made in the book and I would hear things like Of course Dalton succeeded, he is white. That is a sad commentary on some of my friends but unfortunately, it is true. Overall, I found the book both interesting and educational. I hate to admit it but I expected to find the story contained instances of how Dalton was mistreated in the projects. Reading about the experiences Dalton had growing up makes it clear that the rules of the game are different if you are a minority. He Is A Moor, A D Othello: Othello is a general in the army of Venice. He is a Moor, a dark-skinned man born in Africa, and has risen through the ranks of the Venetian army through hard work and success in battle. He is a respected general, but less respected as a person, because of his dark skin and foreign roots. He is an honest man, and believes that people are honest. This makes him naive in many ways. Othello is a passionate man, and deeply loves Desdemona Desdemona: Desdemona is loyal, faithful, and passionately loves Othello. She is shrewd and wise, but is very subtle about it. Iago: Iago is Othello's sword-bearer. He has been passed over for the position of Lieutenant, and this draws out his evil nature. He feels that he has been wronged and cannot accept the position that Othello gives him. Iago is only concerned about himself and his position, and will sacrifice anyone to save himself and his interests. Act I It is night. Tush and Sblood open the play. Though both Roderigo and Iago display a vulgarity of language, Roderigo makes his mark as a gentleman against the coarse soldier speech of Iago. Whilst one of the curled darlings of the nation, he is certainly not darling to Brabantio nor to Desdemona whom he seeks. Iago reveals such a hatred of Othello shared not even by Brabantio. Roderigo may doubt it but it is one of the truest emotions Iago expresses in the play. In his first speech, one motive for his hatred may be found. Othello has chosen Michael Cassio to be his lieutenant instead of Iago and Iago has nothing but scorn for them both: Othello he describes as loving his own pride and purposes and horribly stuffed with epithets of war (1.1.11-13). As we will learn, there is some truth in these judgements. Iago thinks himself more suitable for the post than Cassio who he derides as a great arithmetician...that never set a squadron in the field / nor the division of battle know / more than a spinster... (1.1.18-23). He is not bookish like Cassio. He has practical experience of soldiering. Of him, Othello's eyes had seen proof - the same ocular proof that he demands from Iago of Desdemona's infidelity - at Rhodes, at Cyprus and on other grounds, Christian and heathen (1.1.27-29). Iago is referred to often throughout the play as my Ancient. The contrast has bitterness in it whenever he replies to Othello as my Lord or Cassio as Lieutenant. In Iago's speech on masters and servants (I.1.40ff), his true concept of his position is revealed and with it the philosophy underlying his malice if such a thing exists: I follow him to serve my turn upon him. / We cannot all be masters, nor all masters can be truly followed...In following him, I follow but myself (1.1.41-43, 57). He derides those who doting on his own obsequious bondage / wears out his time much like his master's ass (1.1.45-46) and praises those who keep yet their hearts attending on themselves / and, throwing but shows of service on their lords...do themselves homage (1.1.50-53). These men have some soul, he professes. His creed worships but himself, and his words suggest contempt for the souls who hold honesty and honour dear. I am not what I am, he concludes, yet Roderigo still trusts him, as do Cassio, Desdemona and Othello. That is Iago, honest Iago, ancient to them all but master at the same time. The first task Iago sets is to wake Brabantio and inform him that his daughter has eloped with Othello. This custom (called charivari) was not uncommon in a situation where one party disapproved of a match. Iago incites Roderigo to yell as when by night and negligence the fire / is spied in populous cities. This practical image serves well the simple mind of Roderigo and such imagery is employed to similar effect to incite Brabantio: Even now, very now, now, an old black ram / is tupping your white ewe (1.1.87- 88). If anything is to Arise, arise / the snorting citizens, it is language such as this. Brabantio's first impression of this as malicious bravery...to start my quiet is all too accurate. Iago declares that you have lost half your soul...your daughter covered by a Barbary horse...now making the beast with two backs. Iago, as throughout the play is creating an image ? The people are satisfied with their lives largely and do not like to mingle with the lives of others. In essence, America is a free world where every soul has the right to be free on his own and let others enjoy their freedom nonetheless (Schlesinger 1998). These are some of the most sought after aspects that America brings to the fore when one thinks of the superpower nation of the world, a nation which manifests success, growth, development and security matching none other. Even though the September 2001 attacks on the America were something totally out of the blue, the Americans feel safe more than ever. They know that their country is being protected from the evil forces which are widespread all over the world. They trust their government and they know that they have become the superpower nation of the world through a better and more resilient ideology than an y other country in the world (Schuck 2008). This has come about through a lot of hard work and dedication that the Americans have shown for their country, and the manner in which they have been cohesive is something that stands out in a head and shoulders scenario when one compares America with the rest of the nations around the globe (Huntington 2005). When one wants to know what the most significant factors are that make people to visit America, the answers seem ready and coming. This is because America is such a happening place that people would like to be there at any time. They would give up their homelands just to be in America ââ¬â a place where they can dream to be in. There is a good amount of diversity that one can witness within America. This has meant that there are different races and communities that have started to live in America. It is because of this that there are several languages that are being spoken in the country. These have meant that English has started to break down and it has given rise to a number of languages in the different areas and states of America. This is true that people no longer need to learn English if they want to live in America or even visit it from time to time. There are so many ethnic communities widespread in America that one can make do with other languages as well, and thus live easily without a doubt. Also the fact that America allows people to enter into its different states and regions through a legal procedure is something that asks of people to cherish their stay as long as they are within America. The legal ramifications for the illegal visitors and immigrants is indeed very harsh and this is one of the reasons why Americans feel safe that unwanted intruders would not be able to enter into America. However on the flip side, America has more problems than any other country in the world. People have unequal chances of getting jobs, have basic problems like the rest of the world, and enter into health an d educational issues just like others. There is violence within certain states, one of which is Texas where many people die due to a number of negative incidents that have started to come to the fore (Bellah 1967). But all in all, America is a heaven to live within, and this has been proven time and again by the Kylie Elamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07373779860337976409noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-459263045755146092.post-3892504736857196392020-02-08T09:39:00.001-08:002020-02-08T09:39:03.139-08:00Detroit Electric Case Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 wordsDetroit Electric - Case Study Example He continues to claim that this kind of organisational arrangement is highly dependent of the ability of the organisation involved to clearly and unambiguously describe the specialised jobs that are required to see the organization achieve its goals. Detroit Electric Company invests in outlining what work it requires to be done, and then outsources the services of other companies. It does not do any design or manufacturing. The company maintains that this kind of organizational structure helps it escape capital expanses which may be too huge for it to afford at this point in time, bearing in mind that it is still at start up level. However, there is indication that this company may slowly stop outsourcing its operations as time goes by and as their revenues continue to build on. This is due to the fact that they attribute their outsourcing arrangement to ââ¬Ëavoiding capital costs which could be fatal to its start-upââ¬â¢ (p. 512). The reason why Detroit Electric chose to use t his structure is to capitalize on the economic advantage that is brought by division of work into highly specialised or precise jobs. The company realised that there was already the presence of specialised vehicle manufacturing companies such as Proton Holdings where manufacturing resources could be outsourced to. Proton Holdings was chosen to do the manufacturing activities of Detroit Electric because it had a modern production facility was committed to research and development, was cost efficient, stable, and had a highly qualified labor-force. Relationship between Organisational Structure and Pace of Development Detroit Electric Company is on pace to present its electric vehicles to the market only three years after its inception. On the other hand, Ford will have taken forty years to produce a viable electric car by 2011. The pace of development in these two companies is affect by the organisational structures the two companies have deployed in their organisations. Organisationa l structure defines the manner in which the human resource are organised and their reporting arrangements. Ford, apparently, has deployed the traditional centralised approach to organisational management. Decisions are made at top management levels and little authority is delegated to subordinates as this may indicate loss of control. They review decision made by lower level management and decide on thefate of their implementation. As a result, there is a lot of duplication of functions at different levels of management. This kind of arrangement may create a conservative culture in the organization which will result to everyone wanting to maintain the status quo. This affects the success of the electric car project at Ford because the personnel ââ¬Ëhave become used to the routine activities they performââ¬â¢. As Jacobides puts it, getting so used to routine activities in an organisation makes it difficult for them to focus on the organisationââ¬â¢s projects, follow schedules , and meet deadlines. It also makesit difficult for information to flow across the departmentswhich in turn makes it difficult to share resources efficiently, agree on development agenda, and implement new strategies. In addition, Ford has specialized in the manufacturing of usual cars (those powered by fuel). It was therefore reluctant to diversify into electric cars due to market uncertainties and risks. Manufacturing electric cars would also demand a huge extra investment in infrastructure and human Kylie Elamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07373779860337976409noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-459263045755146092.post-31953562136952239612020-01-29T19:08:00.001-08:002020-01-29T19:08:04.028-08:00My Ambition to Be a Software Engineer Essay Example for Free My Ambition to Be a Software Engineer Essay He stares at me. I hear it, give my recognition, hang up then realize that I am not clear on exactly what it is that I am to do. Something about the proper way to add up my hours is the basic message, but the way she has explained it is not clear to me. Yet. As far as she is concerned, every word she spoke, that is, the way she described her instructions, was perfectly spelled out. She sits in her office confident that her explanation is clear, while I sit behind my desk like some detective trying to solve this great mystery. Although I understood every word she spoke, what she spoke does not register. No eureka bells are setting off. I have trouble decoding her words. I cannot apply the words she's "transmitted." I am experiencing communication problems. This happens all the time. As in the case just described, somewhere between her message and my reception of it, the meaning got lost. To the best of her knowledge, she has gone over a procedure that I have successfully grasped. But it remains unclear to me because I do not understand the way in which she is presenting it. To my boss, it is of course direct and sound, as it is from her mind that the words and thoughts are being emitted. However, as soon as they collided with my own thinking processes they lost complete lucidity. My faculties tell me she is talking but saying nothing sensible. Her faculties tell her her circular sentences are making sense. I periodically acknowledge what she is relaying. She keeps relaying. We are communicating. But are we really? Given this situation, one is led to consider whether it is possible that, that is, can it be that, true communication is impossible? After a... ...y did her presentation of the information pose a problem? Considering we should have understood each other by the virtue of the fact that we speak the same language, this should not have been the case. As a matter of fact, this case shows that even though we were using the same language I could not decipher her meaning. Her mind works in ways that mine does not. And if it is through our minds that we formulate information, then how can it be that what we are communicating will be received in its true form? No two minds work alike nor are their two beings which feel alike. Therefore, how can anyone know exactly what is being communicated? Each of us has a one-of-a-kind make-up. And though, yes, we do understand the use of words and their semantic properties, the fact that we even have to use words to effectively communicate alone makes true communication questionable. (30 marks) Plan: * DO NOT GO INTO ONE ABOUT GODââ¬â¢S EXISTENCE!!! * Purpose and design appears to exist in nature * Mathematical formulas in nature * Gases in atmosphere * Evolution * If we were made in the image of god, then why are we such a new species and how come we didnââ¬â¢t exist from the beginning of time * Furthermore, why are we the only known humans on this planet and why if god was the creator has he made it so we are not suited for other planets?Let us assume that it is true to say that there is a clear existence of purpose and design in nature, the question is whether or not the existence of purpose and design implies the existence of God. The design that is apparent in the world can certainly be shown not to be the work of God, or at least God as an omnipotent (he can do anything), omniscient (he knows everything), omnipresent (He is everywhere) being. It seems that everything around us is some small cog i n a large piece of clockwork that has been intricately designed for all aspects of the planet to coincide and work with each other. The main strengths of the teleological argument are that the conditions of the world are so perfect for us to live in that it must have been designed. Evidence is everywhere. One can use the William Paley's watchmaker theory in support. Which states that: if you're walking along the beach and find a watch you don't assume itââ¬â¢s there by accident. You know someone must have made it due to how intricate the interior and it showing evidence of design; this is the same with the world. One of the most obvious forms of design is the Fibonacci sequence which appears in nature repeatedly; the mathematical pattern can be seen in snail shells and petals of a plant. It seems like this formula was the template for the production of nature, it surely cannot be coincidence that it appears in so many different aspects? Yet maybe it is man that has just made this t heory up and is in fact finding patterns where they do not exist, it does seem likely due to manââ¬â¢s attempt at rationalising everything. Hersh/Davies illustration of mathematizing the world; insert here) This is just like the Parable of the Gardener an idea where two people go on holiday and leave their garden. When they come back one of them thinks the garden has gotten overgrown and has been neglected, whereas the other sees evidence that a gardener must have been tending to it. It is an example of how people can look at the same evidence yet come to different conclusions. The parable of the gardener shows how two people can view the same thing but interpret it in completely different ways. This can be seen by contrasting the way a theist views the world and the way an evolutionary scientist views the world. The theist sees evidence of design, whereas the scientist sees evidence of evolution. It has long been demonstrated how natural selection can simulate the appearance of d esign; in short, you do not require a designer, design can be the result of a process. If we consider products such as an iPhone, we notice that the product has evolved technologically over time. Yet it most certainly had a designer. Therefore, we can see that evolution is not necessarily at odds with creation. It could be the case that the world was designed, by a designer, but has been ââ¬Å"upgradingâ⬠through a process of evolution and natural selection ever since. The problem with this view for the theist is that the theist wants to assert that God is omni-omni-omni, and therefore would have got it right first time and would not have created an imperfect world that needs to improve itself through evolution. Yet for the agnostics this is a difficult point to comprehend as there is no proof of a god or designer.Yet as far back as the 13th century Thomas Aquinas argued that articles of faith can't be scientifically proven and that it's a mistake to try. It seems that the argu ment of the existence of god is the creation of man himself. There are some serious discrepancies between the bible and version of events known to all and the empirical evidence. According to biblical sources, man was made in godââ¬â¢s image on the sixth day of creation. Yet science and empirically backed sources make it clear that the existence of the human race is relatively new and was certainly not ââ¬Ëformedââ¬â¢ at the time of the earthââ¬â¢s creation. The theists can argue that the bible is not meant to be taken literally, but that God still created the world, only not in six days in the way described in the biblical story. Furthermore, if humans are the ââ¬Ëdivineââ¬â¢ race then surely their existence would be found on other planets, which currently there is no evidence of whatsoever. Michael Behe came up with the Irreducible Complexity, an argument designed to counter evolution. He argues that there are things in the world (such as bacterial flagellum and t he human eye) that are so complex, they couldnââ¬â¢t have just arisen by chance: they must have been designed for the purpose they fulfil.Yet, the human eye is not, actually, that well designed. It is back to front for one thing! So perhaps arguments such as these are not well supported when the subject in favour is greatly flawed. Perhaps then, the Fibonacci sequence is a mere act of chance that has been evolved through natural selection as the best form of survival. However, this is too vague and does not quite explain how such a complex form of maths just ââ¬Ëevolvedââ¬â¢ repeatedly within nature.Again this is a clear indication of design and must prove that there has been planning within the planet, and on a larger scale within the universe. After all, there are solar systems which survive due to the most fragile balance of gravity, these could easily have not worked and it is of such small chances that it has. Hume often compared the universe to a vegetable, something that grows of its own accord if the environment is right; there have been examples of ââ¬Ëfailedââ¬â¢ planets just as there are sometimes failed crops. This leads onto the delicate mix of gases within earthââ¬â¢s atmosphere that sustain life. If any one of these gases was to change its ratio, the consequences would be catastrophic, causing the likely extinction of life within the planet. Many marvel at the slim chances that our planet is the way it is, yet they seem to forget that there have been periods of millions of years where there has been no such life due to the mix of gases being wrong, or temperatures being too extreme. However, having said this there must be design. Perhaps not in the universe as we know so little about it, but at least within the planet. It is not necessarily true that the designer is perfect, as of course there are flaws yet the sheer detail of every item in nature is so intricate that it makes one question its design and if something had a role i n creating it. Conclusion: there was a designer, but that designer was not (an omni-omni-omni) God Kylie Elamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07373779860337976409noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-459263045755146092.post-66102032620764016802020-01-05T08:20:00.001-08:002020-01-05T08:20:03.531-08:00Critically discuss the stop and search powers of the Police - Free Essay Example Sample details Pages: 9 Words: 2594 Downloads: 8 Date added: 2017/06/26 Category Law Essay Type Critical essay Level High school Did you like this example? The purpose of this paper is to critically discuss the powers of the police in England and Wales to stop and search citizens under s1 of the police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984. There are some issues still remaining that needs to be changed or altered in order to make this section of the law more compliable with the ECHR. I will also discuss these. The duty of the police is to tell the person they are searching, what they have been stopped for, what the police is searching the person for, what station they work for and their name. Donââ¬â¢t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Critically discuss the stop and search powers of the Police" essay for you Create order However, in some cases e.g. Mustapha Osman v Southwark, it was acceptable that the police didnà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢t have a chance to introduce himself to the person as he was assaulted by the defendant. The police said that he would have introduced himself if he had the chance.[1] The police should also inform people about what they are trying to find e.g. a stolen material. There are some reasons why the person may be searched; one example is that the person may seem suspicious i.e. you seem like you are trying to hide something from the police. The person may also be asked to remove clothing e.g. asking you take your jacket, hat or coat. If taking other clothing off is necessary, the person is taken somewhere out of public e.g. police van with a police officer that is the same sex as them. This is also applied in religious situations where the person may be asked to take a turban out. [2] The powers given to police are legislated by the public; we elect to make those laws. However, they are granted some amount of their own decision and perceptions in enforcing those laws. Although these laws are limited and regulated by policy, they can still affect their powers being used disproportionately. A relevant example of this issue is the powers used against specific types of social groups.[3] à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã
âIn England and Wales, black people are searched seven times as often as whiteà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã .[4] The stop and search powers of the police are only suitable where the police has à ¢Ã¢â ¬ÃÅ"reasonable groundsà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢ to be suspicious about a person carrying a weapon, a stolen property, something that could be used to cause a crime or illegal drugs. However, you can also expected to be stopped and searched if a senior police officer has given permission for the police to do so. This can take place where serious violence is about to happen, if youà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢re in a specific location or area or if youà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢re carrying a weapon or have used it. [5] The act states that powers to stop and search should only be used where a police has à ¢Ã¢â ¬ÃÅ"reasonable groundsà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢ for suspecting. Although, reasonable suspecting is not defined by the Act, there are some guidance specified in the Code of Practice A which states that reasonable grounds for suspicion must be based objectively. For example, if a person is holding an item that has been stolen from somebody, recently in the area, then this would be a suspicion in à ¢Ã¢â ¬ÃÅ"reasonable groundsà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢ and objective. [6] The powers of the police in stop and search are necessary to satisfy the needs of the citizens. They have been given these powers to stop and search to stop crime and prevent it from happening in order for us to live comfortably. Ità ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢s their duty to keep the public safe and keep it away from anti-social behaviour which will also prevent acts of terrorism and will decrease the amount of crime happening.[7] The Powers given to police on stop and search must be used fairly and the police should show respect for the victims that are being searchedà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢ it should be done without discrimination in order for the act to be within the lawful boundaries because The Equality Act 2010 shows that if police officers discriminate, harass or victimise under the act is then unlawful. It is à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã
âunlawful for police officers to discriminate against, harass or victimise any person on the grounds of the à ¢Ã¢â ¬ÃÅ"protected characteristicsà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢ of age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity and their physical appearance when using their powers.à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã The police also has the responsibility to stop unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation I order to build good relations with the public and be fair. Although the Section 1 of PACE already states that all stop and search must be done with a reasonable suspicion, the police seems to fail this duty. Stop and search should be accomplished by à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã
âreasonable suspicionà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã because ità ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢s not fair for the particular residents that are being picked on. Police shouldnà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢t base their suspicions on their own generalisations that are not proven. This will also make the system of stop and search less effective, if people are stopped and searched depending on objective reasons, then the system will improve and the amount of people being stopped and searched will decrease leading to a more public friendly view of the police. The stop and search should be objective for it to be a reasonable suspicion. However, an unreasonable suspicion would be where the police has suspected people basing their reasoning on peopleà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢s personal factors which is not objective. E.g. a personà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢s age, race, colour or anything similar that has got to do with their appearance. Stereotyped thoughts about images shouldnà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢t be used as a reasonable suspicion by saying a particular type/group of people is much more likely to be involved in a criminal activity. [8] The police provide no explanation or reasoning that is reasonable to the problem of arresting people depending on their appearance. In most cases, police explains that a higher amount of black residents are involved in crime which is not supported with any evidence that is strong or acceptable.[9] Police should not be able to see this reason as acceptable because this is a generalised belief/stereotype about a certain group of people. No evidence shows that a personà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢s appearance could d emonstrate that they are guilty and seeing certain groups as criminals, will diminish the amount of crime happening.[10] In January 2012, two men were convicted for murdering a black teenager Stephen Lawrence. This led to a further review of the use of police stop search powers to prevent their disproportionate because the tow murderers were racially motivated.[11] Article 5 of the ECHR is in charge of protecting human rights. Nonetheless, the stop and search does not comply with it. Despite that, Lord Binghamà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢s explanation, à ¢Ã¢â ¬ÃÅ"in the absence of special circumstancesà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢ show that some stops and searches may drop within the scope of article 5. According to that, a long lasting stop and search, lasting unreasonably long, could equal to a lack of liberty which invokes the protection of Article 5.[12] Ian Tomlinson was only an innocent passenger who collapsed and died because of a police who shoved him into the ground with a baton using his power excessively leading to an unlawful death of Tomlinson. [13] If similar acts happen and keep happening, it will certainly be published into media, reaching out to citizens which will make public feel uncomfortable and lead to public not trusting the police. The problem is that the police is still acting depending on their own perceptions of suspiciousness to guess who the victim could be. Even if the police acts within the rules, the attitude and beliefs which lie in their suspicions will influence the way stop and search is being done. They still judge victims depending on their past convictions. However, it may be argued that in very few cases police is not wrong in finding someone suspicious when acting upon their instincts but this is very rare and this could be why some people may think this is a à ¢Ã¢â ¬ÃÅ"reasonableà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢ conduct. This is not appropriately effective in terms of privacy as privacy is essential for stop and search. However, using à ¢Ã¢â ¬ÃÅ"reasonable groundsà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢ without own perceptions is much more effective and this is presumably the best option in order to increase the efficiency of stop and search. Although the police powers in stop and search should be diminished, it should be diminished to a point where ità ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢s proportional to create a balance between the rights of the individual and the needs of the society. To diminish the amount of power used by police on the citizens in this area, the Equality Act come into force. One of the element of this act is to prohibit victimisation. [14] However, the act of the police breaches the Equality Act; it prohibits victimisation and what police are doing are simply going against that. SECTIONS 44 45 OF THE TERRORISM ACT 2000 The power given to police in Section 44 of the Terrorism Act is being used to discriminate people from other backgrounds specifically on black men and young Muslims. Also photographers and peaceful protestors are seen as victims which is another variety of victims being included in the violation. This is because the act states that police can stop and search anyone in a selected area without needing to prove a reasonable suspicion which is a violation of the Article 8 of the ECHR.[15] The stop and search powers given to police IN England and Wales are excessively overused as only 9 percent of the 1 million victims every year result in an arrest which indicate that the powers given to police are used ineffectively or are simply used in a wrong manner. However, this does not mean that the police is not using reasonable grounds to stop and search someone as reasonable grounds can also include the personà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢s behaviour or for example, stopping someone because they match the description of the person. Also for example, it would be reasonable to stop someone if there was a high number of burglaries happening in that area. [16] In the ECtHR, the decision clearly stated that continuing to use the s44 stop and search powers would be unlawful. Therefore, the Government introduced a Review of Counter-terrorism and Security Powers which is a review that discusses some concerns including the need for terrorism stop and search powers necessitating to comply with the ECHR. The two options recommended were either a whole repeal or a more definite and specific power that is tighter and clearer. The repeal option was rejected due to the reason that there was an on-going need for stop and search powers concerning terrorism that didnà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢t involve the presence of a reasonable suspicion. Due to this reason, the review concluded that the power to stop and search people and vehicles without à ¢Ã¢â ¬ÃÅ"reasonable suspicionà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢ was à ¢Ã¢â ¬ÃÅ"operationally justifiedà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢ the recommendations were given effect by Terrorism act 2000 (Remedial) 2011.[17],[18] In conclusion, I believe that the à ¢Ã¢â ¬ÃÅ"reasonable groundsà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢ should be defined and a very open and clear meaning should be built for it. [19] Another relevant point I want to raise is that the police are thinking too subjectively when stopping and searching. This should be changed by educating the police thoroughly about what the à ¢Ã¢â ¬ÃÅ"reasonable groundsà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢ to stop and search are. The police thinking subjectively about stop and search is wrong and this can be changed and lead to a better suspicion of crimes if police are educated about objective thinking. [20] Promoting freedom is violated in the community level as some groups may suffer the fear of being stopped-searched in public. This could be classed as a violation of the personà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢s freedom which could be improved. Continuing to use the s44 to stop and search would be unlawful. Therefore, the stop and search powers need to be tightened up in order for it to be more effective. This means that the police can use their powers where ità ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢s been suspected reasonably that terrorism will occur. For that reason, the law needs to provide specific and a clear meaning of a à ¢Ã¢â ¬ÃÅ"reasonable suspicionà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢ to force the police to know their rights. This will be an official statutory meaning which means that police will think psychologically that if they breach the à ¢Ã¢â ¬ÃÅ"reasonable suspicionà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢ they know that they are going against the law. However, as there is no clear meaning to à ¢Ã¢â ¬ÃÅ"reasonable suspicionà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢ the police are thinking that they not breaching the Article 5 or breaching the Article because they havenà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢t got enough knowledge about it. Therefore, by creating a definite meaning of a reasonable suspi cion, the police will think that ità ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢s necessary rather than only expedient for the act of terrorism occurring. [21] Relaxing the limits might just encourage the police to exceed their powers even more. Then this may lead to the police basing their general suspicions by taking part in more random stops. Due to this, general suspicion could become the main reason for non-stops and this will probably worsen the situation. On the other hand, tightening up of the law may not be effectively possible. For instance, the police talking to people with the persons consent should never be prevented as the police is experienced and they know what they are doing and asking the person, which could lead to the police gaining clues.[22] To change the attitude of police by education and training is a good way of avoiding unreasonable suspecting of citizens and therefore, lead to a more effective policing system. Information related to the care of patients is frequently disseminated at a crowded, noisy nurse station with several nurses rushing to leave and others attempting to get the information necessary to plan care and limit the constant distractions. It is this interaction that allows for information vital patient safety information to be communicated including the acuity of patients. Currently at the hospital I work in does not require bedside reporting in high acuity areas such as the emergency department. The current practice is to first identify the nurse for the assignment you are relieving, which often times can be multiple nurses. This often leads to very brief exchange of patient information so that each nurse can get to the next person and start care or leave for the day. Due to the nature of an emergency department, patient population is extremel y diverse yielding reports regarding patients of different ages, diagnoses, and acuity. Couple the diverse nature of clients with the brief interactions between nurses to communicate what is presumed important regarding patient care while attempting to maintain privacy all with the distractions of a busy nursing station and it is likely some piece of information may be missed or overlooked. Answer: SWOT Analysis The SWOT analysis includes the factors that help the company to analyze the internal and the external factors that can impact the working of the KFC. The SWOT analysis of the KFC is discussed below and includes the Global as well Middle East regions perspective. The Middle East regions consist of Cyrus, Turkey, Egypt, and various territories and states of Arabia (Hollensen, 2015). Strength Global perspective- The Company is having the global presence as KFC is the worlds 2nd largest restaurant chain. The company is having approximately 18,000 KFC outlets in 120 countries and the territories across the world. KFC brand is well known for the fried chicken across the world, but now along with the Non-veg offering company is proving the Veg Category. The company is leading in the world because of their secret recipe that contains 11 herbs and species. This recipe became the strength of the company and helped the KFC to become the successful food chain across the world (Shuailing, Zhi, 2015). Middle East Regions- Middle East regions are considered as the strong markets of the KFC. The company is earning huge amount of revenue from the franchises and the licensees fees that are established in Middle East regions. This is the reason company is having the strong brand reputation along with the visibility and accessibility in Middle East regions. The accessibility of the KFC outlets is more in the east regions which enhances the goodwill of the company. Weakness Global perspective- The management of the franchises across the world is bringing trouble for the KFC. The KFC found that they closed many outlets because they found the conflicting operational issues among the KFC and its franchisees. The food provided by the KFC includes the unhygienic calories and unhealthy fats, which affects the business of the KFC because nowadays the people are becoming health conscious (Hollensen, 2015). Middle East Regions- KFC Company is least interested to bring any development and innovation in the Middle East regions and this is becoming a weakness for the company. The company also faces problems related to the management of the franchises across the eastern regions. Opportunity Global perspective- The KFC brand stills have the market expansion options that can be used by the company as the lifestyle of the customer is changing. The company has the opportunity to get the specialty in the vegetarian menu; this will leads to the growth and success of the company. Penetration can be adopted by the company which will help the company in enhancing the growth and becoming the leading player in the food chain industry (Zhuang, Jiang, 2016). Middle East Regions- Company has the opportunity to open many more outlets in East regions. Opening new outlets will enhance the growth and profit of KFC. The company has the opportunity to bring more of the vegetarian's dishes as most of the people like to have the vegetarian dishes instead of the non-veg. Threats Global perspective- The company has to compete with different competitors across the world, this is the reason KFC is not a leader in the industry. The change in the eating habits of the customers is leading and become a threat, the habits are changing due to the awareness of the healthy products. The increase in the prices of the raw material is one of the threats. The closure of the franchises might create the impact on the brand image of the company which is again a threat. Middle East Regions- The leading competitor McDonald is giving competition to the KFC in the Middle East regions as well. The threat of the competition is increasing and it is becoming the threat to the company. The prices of the raw material are also increasing which made the KFC think that if they increase the price they will not be able to compete in the market (Mahidin, Othman, Saifudin, 2016). However, these ideas are continually challenged by the idea of emotional intelligence being key indicators of management performance (cited in Khosravi, Manafi, Hojabri, Aghapour and Gheshmi, 2011, pg 3). Emotional intelligence is ones ability to perceive and regulate other peopleââ¬â¢s emotions (cited in Sadri, 2012, pg 536). In present society, emotional intelligence of management is essential to positive communications in projecting ideas, increasing value of teams through creating common team values and hence increasing the job satisfactions of individuals in workplaces from corporations to sales. Emotional intelligence is consequently directly related to the overall performance of a company and also the efficiency of individual employees. It can also be said that emotional intelligence is much more important then pure intelligence in shaping leadership success (cited in Sadri, 2012, pg 537). Managers use communication as a method to transfer meaning to others for the ultimate purpose of achieving their goals and objectives. The ability to communicate efficiently depends upon the managerââ¬â¢s capability to empathise with his or her peers, that is, the managerââ¬â¢s level of emotional intelligence. Golemanââ¬â¢s study asserts the notions of emotionally intelligent individuals are more successful at communicating their ââ¬Ëideas, goals and intentionsââ¬â¢ (cited in Zeidner, Matthews, Roberts, 2004, pg 386). Similarly, Wasielewskiââ¬â¢ studies suggests emotionally intelligent individuals are able to ââ¬Ëexcite and enthuseââ¬â¢ or make others ââ¬Ëfeel cautious and waryââ¬â¢ (cited in George, 2000, pg 7). This sort of behavior will consequently motivate or demotivate individuals in the workplace. Thus emotional intelligence is crucial as it allows managers to communicate effectively and therefore achieve his or her goals by influencing the mood and emotion of his or her team. Bar On further asserts that managers are also able to use communication to ensure a positive result in environmentally demanding work situations (cited in Zeidner, Matthews, Roberts, 2004, pg 374). Managers will only be able to do this if they understand their employeesââ¬â¢ personal feelings, hence emotional intelligence is the tool that lets managers communicate effectively in any sort of situation. Regardless of whether the situation is difficult or not, emotional intelligence will always be significant because it allows the manager to communicate effectively with his or her employees (cited in George, 2000, pg 8). A consequence of managers who communicate with high emotional intelligence creates value adding member interaction, which in turn increases team productivity. Positive emotions of certain individuals such as managers can influence team member mentality and is high likely to increase group cohesion through relationship building, this is also known as positive ââ¬Ëemotional contagionââ¬â¢ (cited in Ashanasy and Daus, 2002, pg 79). However oppositely, negative emotions of an individual can decrease the efficiency of other team members since negative attitudes can ââ¬Ëinfectââ¬â¢ co-workers and is hard to reverse (cited in Ashanasy and Daus, 2002, pg 79). Consequently due to these polar outcomes the need for emotionally intelligent managers is crucial to the operation of a team to complete tasks efficiently. More importantly, high emotional intelligence can impact a leaders and teams ability to construct team goals and objectives (cited in Ashanasy and Daus, 2002 pg 81). This is asserted by Rosete and Ciarrochi study in which concluded that high emotional intelligent leaders performed more efficiently and was not affected by cognitive ability (cited in Sadri, 2012, pg 538). Apart from leadership highly emotional intelligent team members also increased team efficiency. A Study by Jordan and Troths concluded this through their experiment where they concluded high emotional intelligent team members performed more exceptional then low emotional intelligent teams (cited in Sadri, 2012, pg 538). Thus leadership through high emotional intelligent individuals increases the value of a team, however high emotional intelligent team members also contribute to positive team interaction. Another aspect of high emotional intelligent leaders is improved job satisfaction and hence increased performance. Emotionally intelligent leaders are able to influence ââ¬Ëshared beliefsââ¬â¢ of groups, allowing them to shape ones abilities and skills to communicate and co-ordinate with each other (cited in Zampetakis and Moustakis, 2011, pg 84 ). These ââ¬Ëshared beliefsââ¬â¢ allow groups to have high job satisfactions due to improved performance due to positive emotional norms created by the manager (cited in Zampetakis and Moustakis, 2011, pg 84). Henceforth, an increase in group job satisfaction will allow individual satisfaction growth, this will in turn increase overall efficiency. In the studies of Ashkanasy and Daus, we can also view the importance of emotionally related job satisfaction. The study contains scenarios, which stress how negative satisfaction partly due to leadership problems can have adverse affects upon other team members. Research has also exemplified the need for emotionally intelligent managers to heighten positive emotions with employees particularly in the sales industry to increase customer rentention (cited in Ashkanasy and Daus, 2002, pg 77). Hence, job satisfaction is highly correlated with the emotional intelligence of managers. Job satisfaction is clearly an important factor in the workplace as it is able to increase efficiency. As organisations and businesses seek to increase efficiency, the use of emotionally intelligent individuals will be employed to redefine groups and individuals in the workplace. Over time as stronger evidence builds upon that high emotional intelligent individuals make better leaders, companies will undergo a transition to recruit or train emotionally intelligent individuals. As companies continually gain knowledge in this field, competitive strategies will be formed to better firm performance. As they embrace these types of changes, competitive advantages particularly in the sales industry will experience large competitive advantages. Communication from highly emotionally intelligent allows more positively regulated team ambitions and hence allow greater team collaboration, which increases inter-personal relationships. Team collaboration is highly effective in producing superior job satisfactions and consequently job efficiency. Hence, emotional intelligence is essential for leaders to manage successfully in workplaces. References: Sadri, G. , (2012). Why should we vote? Is it really worth our time? The answer is YES. People say that one vote wont change the outcome, but take a look at Florida! Right now, the election of our president is in the people of Floridas hands. Your one vote is very important. Many people take voting for granted. You see? By voting, here in Oklahoma, we are really choosing eight representatives to go to the electoral colleges in December. Those same eight people are also the people from our beloved state that are in the House of Representatives. In December, they the representatives you chose will vote for a president. Their votes are called electoral votes. They are based on the popular votes. When you go to the poles to vote for a president, and the ballots are totaled up those are called the popular votes. My personal opinion is that the popular votes should determine the winner. The number of electoral votes each state has is determined by that states population. The larger the population, the more electoral votes. In the election that is taking place right now, Al Gore is winning in electoral votes, but, over half of the states voted for George Bush. How is that possible you ask? Because Gore took most of the larger populated states. Now, say you lived in California. That state has 54 electoral votes. What if only half the population of registered voters actually went to vote? Lets say the majority of them voted for Bush, but he only won by one vote. That states electoral votes would be Bushs, and in conclusion, Bush would be president. So, think about this again, does your vote really Bibliography: . In this article, I will give examples of jokes and I will (shudder) explain them too. I know, you shouldnt explain your jokes, but this helps us talk about them. Good jokes are often: Incongruous This is the central feature of humor. That is, something that is funny is also surprising. Yes, it also needs to be recognizable (see below) unless you know what something is, you dont know what to expect from it. Unless youre familiar with something, you dont know whats unfamiliar. But a joke needs to present its subject in an unexpected way. ââ¬Å"Well, what shall I talk about? I ainââ¬â¢t got anything funny to say. All I know is what I read in the papers.â⬠Will Rogers Recognizable Thats probably why comics and humorists get so much material from current events or popular culture. They know their audiences will recognize the jokes if its based on what everyone is currently talking about. Thats also why inside jokes work so well. When I was sixteen, I combined several of my history teachers favorite expressions into one sentence: Well, ol Richelieu thought that was such a hoot that he lost his facilities like there wasnt going to be a tomorrow. That may not seem particularly funny to you, but it seemed funny to my fellow history students. Pretentious? Moi? Short A joke is funniest when it uses the fewest possible words, because humor requires limiting complexity. Robert I. M. Dunbar, an experimental psychologist at Oxford University, found that the funniest jokes have only two characters and less than five layers of meaning. On one hand, your joke is not funny if you have to explain it. On the other hand, if nobody understands the point, its not funny either. Humor depends on a careful, delicate balance between giving too many hints and giving too few. The preceding joke comes from a Reddit list of the worlds shortest jokes, and its irony is that if you use gratuitous French words such as moi, you will seem pretentious. I wanted to give you a chance to get the joke before I explained it. It doesnââ¬â¢t really matter how many sit-ups you did this morning if you get hit with a Volvo. Ronald Dee White, paraphrased Specific A joke about Volvos in particular is funnier than one about cars in general. Writers know that specifics are more interesting than generalities, but that apparently makes them more humorous too. Lets face it, some words are funnier than others. Unfortunately for the Ford Motor Company, their car name Edsel was too humorous to become popular. Ronald Dee Whites joke has the added irony of being hit by the worlds safest car. Wait til the yoga class sees my killer tree position. Unexpected Thats why a humorist must be like a magician, able to hide his tricks. Or like a mystery writer, who wants her readers say, I should have seen that coming exactly half the time and I would never have seen that coming the other half of the time. If readers expect the punchline, it may not turn out funny. Thats why a well-presented joke may not sound like a joke until the end. I think my humor, more than anything else, depends on bluntness. That is, when I make people laugh, its often by being dead serious. It surprises people that Im saying exactly whats happening. For example, we dont expect a successful adult to admit theyre taking yoga classes to impress other successful adults, and the joke is funnier because of the incongruity between competitiveness and yogas goal of attaining control over ones desires (I think). This is one of about twelve drafts of this joke. How would you rewrite it to make it funnier? When I came to this town, said the millionaire businessman, I had only a quarter in my pocket. But I used that quarter wisely. I called home for more money. Insightful A good joke goes beyond incongruity to touch what it means to be human. Its incongruous to play a trick on a disabled person, but because its inhumane and unjust, somehow its not really funny. When good triumphs over evil, or when a pompous person is humbled, that makes the joke more satisfying. And just being human is often funny. Our expectations lead us to assume the businessman will boast of investing 25 cents and turning it into a million dollars. We havent done something like that, but instead of making us feeling like failures, this joke lets us feel good that the businessman didnt either. Respectful Some pseudo-jokes are incongruous but not funny because they dont make sense or respect their audience. One is the interminable shaggy dog story whose punchline doesnt justify the time spent hearing it. In the original joke, after a long series of irrelevant digressions (one such joke takes 45 minutes to tell) that have little to do with the dog in question, a character finally says only, Hes not so shaggy. Another group of jokes shares the meaningless punchline: No soap, radio. But because the punchline isnt funny, these jokes are themselves practical jokes. The teller gets perverse amusement from his bewildered audience (Get it? No soap RADIO! Ha ha ha!), either when they admit I dont get it, or when they pretend to find the joke humorous. Two old ladies are in a restaurant. One complains, You know, the food here is just terrible. The other shakes her head and adds, And such small portions. Woody Allen Narrative If you want to touch your readers humanity as well as surprise them, maybe you shouldnt write jokes, but write stories. The best humor includes the basic elements of a story, such as character and conflict and wisdom. If you simply follow a standard joke structure, such as garden path or reverse, your readers may anticipate your punchline. But when you tell a story, you may catch your readers off guard they may not realize youre telling a joke. Woody Allen describes people we all know, who complain a lot, but his joke reminds us that after a certain point, complaining doesnt make sense. Humor is studied by scientists: University of Western Ontario psychology professor Rod Martin has found more than 4,000 peer-reviewed journal articles on the psychology of humor. But as you practice it, youll discover that humor writing is not only a science, but an art as well. You can never predict with certainty what people will laugh at. Different demographic groups are affected by crime differently. Victims attributed to violent crime include; the low-income earners and those living in developed urban areas. Not only are the people in this kind of demographic division more likely to be the victims but also possibilities of them being perpetrators are also high as well. Repeatedly, the issues relating to crime are normally told in a statistical perspective rather than real life stories (Wilson, 2007, p. 2 & 3). Officials in elected posts opt for scare tactics rather than reasoning while dealing with the gun control issue. Opinions have been raised regarding the guns control issue with some of the opinion that gun control will reduce violence crime while others are of the opinion that gun control is unwanted interference into a citizenââ¬â¢s personal affairs (Wilson, 2007, p. 4). How has the gun indus try prevailed against additional strengthened gun control laws? The gun industry has employed various tactics to ensure that they remain in the market despite the numerous additional laws that are legislated for the sole purpose of controlling guns within the American community. Wal-Mart, which is regarded as Americaââ¬â¢s largest retailer of firearms, has been indicated to be intergrading with democrats as well as president Obamaââ¬â¢s policies and in particular the health care reform bill. In support to the governmentââ¬â¢s reforms in the health care Wal-Mart suggested that it supported the notion that companies ought to contribute to its employeesââ¬â¢ cost of health care. It is such moves in one way or the other create a soft spot on the government in regards to the firearm industry (Roig-Franzia, 2009, p. 2). The gun industry has also used sections of the existing laws to its advantage as indicated by Roig-Franzia. The mayors against illegal guns group is said to ha ve failed to repeal amendments brought forth by Todd Tiahart that prevented the bureau of firearms from sharing crucial information on the grounds of privacy. This kind of amendments only help to assert more market share to the gun industry as most of the clients will be willing to purchase a firearm on the basis that their privacy is guaranteed (Roig-Franzia, 2009, p. 2). Policies that restrict or control the use of gun have a dim future ahead as they are bound to fail according to the gun rights advocates. This is because most of the perpetrators of crime most of the time possess a firearm through illegal means that might include stealing or buying it from the black market. It is also suggested that by using the gun control, crime rate might rise, as the criminals will be confident while attacking their victims as the probability of the victim to be unarmed is high. In conclusion, these perspectives only increase the life of the gun industry even more (Wilson, 2007, p. 11). Accord ing to Bruce and Wilcox, the role of the Regan administration was minimal in the deliberation of gun control issues by the congress. The NRA on the other hand kept up extensive efforts to ensure Attorney General was neutralized in terms of his reserves to McClure Volkmer bill. It is the passage of the legislation in 1986 that indicated the NRAââ¬â¢s zenith influence especially on Capitol Hill. NRA campaigned vigorously in Washington D.C and its grass roots. The NRA is said to have Kylie Elamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07373779860337976409noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-459263045755146092.post-26163810188595495462019-11-20T08:05:00.001-08:002019-11-20T08:05:07.524-08:00Why The US Has Higher Crime Rates Than Other Nations Case StudyWhy The US Has Higher Crime Rates Than Other Nations - Case Study Example As an aspect of an individualââ¬â¢s personality, self-control reflects the ability to control and set up boundaries on oneself internally in response to a certain stimulus in the environment. Myers (1995) believed that behavior and actions are affected by whether people perceive the control as internal or external in which the individual is at the mercy of the outside world. Studies have made evaluative comparisons between internal and external control which showed to a great extent that internal control subjects achieve better in a social structure and act more independently in Bennassi, et al (1998). Human behavior has shown control that is often perceived as an external force that triggers feelings of depression giving out an opportunity for avoidance. However, individuals who have learned and experience self-control can easily avoid the emergence of disruptive behavior. Self-control helps a person to resist the momentary temptations of socially unacceptable behavior. Basically, through social learning man learns to exercise personal restraints through positive and negative reinforcements through normal cognitive processing. A greater degree of self-control helps a person to resist the momentary temptations of antisocial behavior in Gottfredson and Hirschi(1990:97). Further, they showed in the General Theory of Crime, that the development of criminal behavior in individuals points out that both the elements of ââ¬Ëprudent and criminal behaviorââ¬â¢ can be predicted through the evaluation and assessment of the lack of self-control alone. They argued that self-control does not necessarily require the presence of a crime but the trait itself can be changed according to the opportunities afforded and constraints affected. Although a relatively new theory in relation to criminology their theory adapts to the idea that criminal activity is gratifying and the key to understanding crime is discovering what prevents people from the errant behavior. In effect, the authors grandstand on the idea that levels of self-control may predispose criminality. In economic terms it is said that ââ¬Å"There is no such things as a free lunchâ⬠. The second principle says that the cost of something is what we give up to get it. For example, consider a person forced to give up $ 200 for purchasing a television the cost of that television would be $ 200. If another person spends $ 300 on an advanced television the cost of that television would be $ 300. Suppose a person exchanges a television for a mobile phone, the cost of the television and the mobile phone would be equal. In short, cost of a commodity is determined by the sacrifice we did to achieve it or gain it. The third principle says that whenever rational people purchase something they will think of the margins they may get. In other words rational individuals compare the marginal benefits and the marginal costs before taking a purchasing decision. Suppose a person think of purchasing some gold as an investment. The prices of gold goes on increasing at present and a rational person know that if he invests in gold now, he will get more benefits in the future. At the same time he has another option of investing the money as term deposits in banks. But the marginal benefits received from banks as interests might be less than the marginal benefits gets from the gold investment. In other words the decision to select one alternative over other depends on the marginal benefits associated with both of them. The fourth principle says that people may respond to incentives. For example, buy one get one free is a common sales strategy adopted by many manufacturers. When we go to shopping, we often see advertisements like that. A person visiting a shopping mall for purchasing a particular brand of shirt may change his decision if he sees the advertisement of another branded shirt in which they offer one free shirt of same quality for every purchase of a new shirt from them. Thus incentives may often influence the decision making of individuals.à Kylie Elamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07373779860337976409noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-459263045755146092.post-38502837307567493342019-11-15T11:02:00.001-08:002019-11-15T11:02:05.142-08:00The Process Of Space Travel Philosophy EssayThe Process Of Space Travel Philosophy Essay Firstly I think space travel is worth the time and money because with space travel we can learn more about space and whats up there. Also with more knowledge of space we can use it to our advantage. Space travel could be dangerous but it is worth knowing some knowledge about it to know if something dangerous like a comet is coming. It could also help for us to know more about the moon and the stars. Secondly here are some things we could do in space thats if were able to go back up there are learn more about the planets and what each one holds. All of the planets are in many different shapes and sizes. Like Mars for instance scientists say that it is the closest planet similar to earth. It has water just like earth does but doesnt have enough oxygen on it for people to live on. But scientists also say that if they could get plant life on Mars that eventually people would be able to live on Mars. For now since people cant live on mars they put robots on the planet to gain information about the planet. Unlike humans robots can stay on the planet for a lot longer and get hard to reach areas on the planet that humans cant reach. One thing that a human could do on the planet that wouldnt require robots help would be collecting data. A human could collect samples of the planet as well getting the water percentage of the planet. Thirdly before I start talking about the costs of space travel I will talk about some of the things you do while going into a space shuttle. When you walk in the shuttle you have to take off your shoes and you are given a special pair of isolation chamber slippers. After the shoes you are given a light blue vinyl imprinted with the Japan Aerospace exploration logo on it (JAXA). Next is the isolation chamber, a freestanding structure inside building C-5 at JAXAs headquarters in Tsukuba Science City. If you make it to this chamber you are a top ten finalist for two openings in the Japanese astronaut corps. The people in this room are monitored by the JAXA members as well as psychiatrists to see their behaviors in the room. These are some of the things done when in a space shuttle. If the astronauts were able to use the water on mars they could probably stay up in space a lot longer without going back to earth for supplies. How exactly expensive is space travel? Well space travel can cost up to half a billion dollars per space launch. Even with that cost per launch it is still worth it to go to space to find all the undiscovered things up there. Like I said before with the water if they could find a way to stay in space longer it would cut a lot of the costs because you wouldnt have to make as many trips back and forth. Space travel is important because it can let us know if anything deadly is coming. Or it could help us learn more of when the sun is going to burn out. If the sun burns out us humans will only be able to live for a couple of days before freezing to death. As I said before NASA also wants to be able to put people in space because of over population. Just think in space there is no limit of capacity it can hold, so therefore you could fit everyone up there without a problem. Some scientists were wondering that if you went up in space could it actually blow your mind? Well reports from the 1957 issue of Aviation Medicine 35 percent of 137 pilots interviewed said they had a strange feeling on the way up. Some of the astronauts said they felt closer to god or they had broken bonds with the terrestrial sphere. This blowing of the mind theory is also known as the breaking away theory. David Simons from NASA compared the breaking away phenomenon to the deadly raptures of the deep. The rapture of the deep is a medical condition where a diver feels calm and at peace when 100 feet below water. This term is also known as nitrogen narcosis. Simons also said that one day this could be an astronaut going into space with this happening. Some astronauts said that even looking down at the earth spinning fast and the shuttle moving from earth so fast gives them space euphoria, which has the same meaning as the blowing of the mind theory. Some of the psychologists were nervous about the first two space walkers because they got nervous leaving the space shuttle and this made them want to go back to the space shuttle. But in most cases the astronauts were not nervous when they went out of the space shuttle without any problems. Crash simulation is a world made up of metal and men. The place that the simulator is located is at Ohios transportation research center. In the research center there is a crash sled with a track going down the middle of it. The room has a bunch of engineers in it with safety goggles on. In the room there are a bunch of orange and yellow hazard lights along with the cadaver. The cadavers are dressed just like a living person would dress but only there dead. In a couple of hours the cadaver will be hit with a piston that will be shot with pressurized air at the seat he is sitting at. The seat is designed to create any type of crash scenario that you need to be performed. If you need to do a scenario where a car travels 65 mph into a wall you can do that. Or you can even do a scenario where the cars are crashing into each other. In a space shuttle it is a little different than normal car crash testing because almost all space landings are kind of like crash test when it has to do with space. Next is the Gemini VII launched on December 4, 1965 it was a trip to the moon. The only thing different was that this time it was a round trip to the moon a mission that takes two weeks. This would be tough for the astronauts because they have never spent that much time in zero gravity, the old time was only 8 days compared to this ones 12. Just to see if they could stay up in space that long they had a rehearsal where the astronauts would stay on earth but would be in a space shuttle for two weeks to see if the astronauts would be able to handle it. If they could handle it then they would be sent up into space for the two weeks to the study the moon. The Nazis built the worlds first rocket; it was designed to deliver without leaving their home. The rocket that the Nazis built was called the V-2. The Nazis put their first strike with it on London. But anyways Dr. James henry asked David Simons a scientist if people would ever go into space and that thats when Simons said yes and then Henry asked about a monkey going into space and Simon said well when do we start. The only problem was that hey were worried that terrible things would happen to the monkey if he was launched into space. So they said the only way to know for sure was to send a simulated pilot up there so he could launch the animal in the nose of the fast V-2 rocket. But In 1948 Albert a nine-pound monkey was the first living creature to be launched into space. In Conclusion I have told you why space travel is important and if its worth it, I have also talked about mars and many other space experiments. Going into space is a very important thing because it helps us know more about what exactly space is and how it was formed. Without space travel we wouldnt have learned about gravity, the moon, or even the planets. So you see we do need space travel and we need to continue going up into space to learn new things and discover new things. Space travel might also be expensive but in the long run the money is worth it. As I said before the earth is becoming over populated and eventually we might not have any room left. So if we could put humans in space there would be no limit on how many people it could fit. Im also going to say that without space travel we might not be where were at today. These are just some of the many things on why space travel is important and why need it for a better future. Personal Review I thought packing for mars was a pretty interesting book. I thought it was going to be another boring space book but it turned out that the book wasnt so bad. I thought it was pretty neat how they have to package the food in special sealed bags so that when it gets to space it doesnt go all over the place. One thing that I didnt like about the book was that it didnt talk about going to mars all that much. One thing that was interesting but gross was the vomiting in the space helmets. Roach talked about how threatening it could be if a person were to throw up in their space helmet and I thought that was just gross. As I said before the book turned out not to be too bad.
